Escape from Lecumberri

By Dwight Worker and Barbara Wilde

We’re delighted to announce that the first book to be published by Inari Publishing will be Escape from Lecumberri, by Dwight Worker and Barbara Wilde. This is an extensively revised version of Escape, which was published back in 1978 and promptly made into a television movie starring Timothy Bottoms. It’s the story of Dwight Worker, arrested in Mexico City on drug charges in 1973, his two years of imprisonment in Lecumberri, the infamous “Black Hole” of Mexico, and his escape from that prison after two years and a week of incarceration.

The original book Escape has long been out of print. Recently, however, the production team for the popular National Geographic TV series “Locked Up Abroad” learned of Dwight’s story and is in the process of producing a one-hour show on him and his story, to be aired in late spring or early summer of this year. Dwight and Barbara have gone back through the original manuscript, made some changes, added some new material, and we will release Escape from Lecumberri at the same time that the television show is aired.

Publisher’s Weekly called the original book “absolutely riveting.” We think it’s the perfect book to launch a brand new publishing company with.

And stay tuned—there are more books to come!
