THE BRANDYWINE DINER OF WILMINGTON, DELAWARE IS NOW IN TEXAS

The Brandywine diner resided on the corner of 24th St. and Governor Prinz Highway  in Wilmington, Delaware from 1954 until 1997 when it was purchased by Diversified Diners to undergo a complete renovation. Original Mountain View Diner nameplate This 1954 Mountain View Diner (#368) faced probable demolition had Diversified Diners not purchased the structure. The diner was really a mess, neglected in a derelict neighborhood it had certainly seen better days. The past owner had closed the diner and lived reclusively within for many years before he passed away. There were wild cats, rats and other undesirable creatures among ungodly odors circulating within. All porous materials (which retained said ungodly odors) had to be  removed and destroyed as did most of the clothing worn during this nightmarish job. Given all that, vandals still made their way into the diner searching for reputed hidden fortunes.

The above photos are of the Diner as it appeared prior to purchase. A horrific mess inside and even worse below the diner in the basement. Years of junk and rotting food made it a cornucopia  for the eyes and nose.
