The original floor had to been completely removed. We saved the vintage unglazed mosaic tiles though. The frame was inspected, sanded, primed and painted. Reinforcement was added where it was needed.

The original rails are visible as well as the added end rails to support the floor deck

A new steel form deck for the floor was installed.

Two inches of fiber reinforced concrete was laid over the form deck with stainless steel wire mesh underneath.

We upgraded to metal fireproof studs on the kitchen walls.
